Proof the BIble is True

Picture
This presentation was filmed at the Awana Ministry Conference.
(See videos below the "Handout" section.)

The purpose of this presentation was to equip adults on how to teach kids that the Bible is true. You can take the ideas presented and share them with your kids or teens.

If you want to teach these principles to teens, you could print out the handout below and then show them some of the bonus YouTube videos that are listed under each category to teach that point. The handout also summaries the main teaching point.

Hanna also has a live version of this presentation specifically for groups of kids and one for teens. If you are interested in scheduling Hanna to speak to your group of kids, teens, or adults, please CONTACT US!

Handouts

Worksheets - Below are different versions of the handout that accompanies the videos. You can either fill-in-the-blanks as you watch the videos or print out the answer key version that already has the blanks filled in to simply have a summary of each point. Each version pretty much has the same information, just a different design. Version 3 is slightly different because it has  some of the additional links featured on this web page in the document.

Reasons to Believe Bag

If you are teaching this lesson to kids, here are some ideas of objects that you can pass out that represent each of the seven key points. A more detailed explanation of each object, how it relates, and additional ideas is below.
Picture
Supplies
  • Paper bag (write "Reasons to Believe" on the front)
  • Marked Penny (#1 - Prophecy)
  • Googly-eye puppet (#2 - Eyewitnesses)
  • Tissues (#3 - Embarrassing)
  • Band-aid (#4 - Willing to die)
  • Rock (#5 - Archaeology)
  • Feather or note card (#6 - Manuscript)
  • Star sticker (#7 - Heavens)
#1 - Prophecy - The object that you can use for this point is marking a penny with an "X" as a reminder of the impossible probability of the Biblical prophecies coming true about Jesus through man's power (something like 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000).  An object lesson that you can do with kids is count out 100 pennies, mark one with an "X", and put them all in a container. Then blindfold one kid and see if that child can pull out the coin marked with the "X" on the first try. While this may be achievable since there are only 100 pennies, what if there were one hundred quadrillion pennies? Do you think someone could find the one marked with the "X" on the first try? For my group of kids, I also made these prophecy slips and then taped a marked penny onto the slip as a reminder. On one side is an Old Testament prophecy about Jesus and on the back side is its corresponding New Testament fulfillment. CLICK HERE for the template; there are 23 different prophecies in this template.

#2 - Eyewitnesses - Search Amazon or Walmart to buy this "Googly-eye finger puppet".

#3 - Embarrassing - The object for this point is a set of pocket tissues. On the side that does not open, I taped a piece of paper and wrote "Embarrassing Testimony" as a reminder for what this object represented. The tissues that I found happened to have a fun design on the front (not related to the teaching point). The reason for the tissues is that people that are embarrassed might cry or want to cover their face and need a tissue.
Picture
#4 - Willing to Die - I wrote the words "Painful - Willing to Die" on the band-aid. You can explain that people use a band-aid when they are hurt. And that the disciples received many injuries for their testimony that Jesus is God and that His words are true.
Picture
#5 - Archaeology and History - This rock relates to the key point of archaeology because many archaeological digs involve rocks - whether it is observing carvings or painting on rocks, discovering a stone tool, or finding something buried in layers of dirt and rocks!
Picture
#6 - Manuscripts - For this point, there are a couple different ideas you could do for the object. One is a feather which represents the writing tool that those that copied the Scripture might have used. Another idea is to take a note card and on one side write "Over 5,000 manuscripts of the New Testament. Manuscript = Handwritten copy". Then on the back side, have the kids write their own "manuscript"/copy of a Bible verse from the Bible or a Bible verse that you write on the board or a piece of paper ahead of time. You could experiment with making your own ink from natural resources or just use paint. You could let them try and write the verse with the feather pen or use a paintbrush.
Picture
#7 - Heavens - This star sticker represents Psalm 19:1. You could use a glow in the dark star instead or let the kids find a nature object to put in their bag since all of creation declares a creator (Romans 1:20).
